The monitor station operated by the US Naval Observatory (USNO) performs GPS time synchronization to UTC(USNO) and provides GPS time corrections to the GPS Master Control Station (MCS). The MCS updates each satellite’s navigation message to broadcast the latest corrections back to users. The PTTR-12 receiver and its associated external cesium frequency standard provide a precise reference base. The prediction of UTC(USNO) available from the GPS has been shown typically to be within 10 ns of the actual UTC(USNO) using ITT PPS Time Transfer Receivers.
